Corner Bakery Cafe plans to expand in some of the nation's busiest airports and made its initial landing at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta.

While the chain doesn't have details in terms of how many and which airports because it is currently undergoing the RFP process, there are multiple projects planned to fit in line with the brand's goal of doubling its national footprint in the next two years. Just this year, the chain has expanded into Southeast markets as well as Northeast Ohio.

"While there are no new upgrades specific to the airport, the 1,400-square-foot prototype has the flexibility to fit into a variety of airport spaces," says Gregg Koffler, vice president of franchise development.

The kitchen setup is similar to the brand's Hartsfield-Jackson airport layout with the cookline in back and a glass display for fresh breads and sweets.
