After four decades of serving customers from Bourbon Street to Miami Beach, New Orleans-themed national bar chain Fat Tuesday is expanding to California.

The 3,600-square-foot flagship opened at the end of June in The Gaslamp Quarter, San Diego. This opening marks Fat Tuesday’s debut on the West Coast.

“People have been begging us to come to California for years, and San Diego was the perfect place for us to bring the party,” says Alex Monahan, CEO of Fat Tuesday. “This spot takes everything people love about the brand and takes it to a new level. It’s our biggest, boldest location yet, and we think it’s going to be a fan favorite.”

The new flagship aims its sights on multiple dayparts, and blends the brand's new all-day, full-service model with its signature New Orleans late-night vibe. By day, the new larger format concept is a family-friendly lunch spot that shifts into a 20-TV sports hub for afternoon games. By night, the lights go down and the energy turns up with nightly live entertainment, DJs, karaoke, bingo and more.

San Diego is the third in Fat Tuesday’s new wave of experience-led flagships, following the opening of two Florida flagships, which opened in late 2024 and early 2025 in Tampa and Fort Lauderdale.
