Designers at Fab Studio debut hospitality venue Garnet, which recently opened its doors in the heart of the Andheri neighborhood in Mumbai. The newly opened space seamlessly transitions from a serene daytime dining environment to an energetic nightlife destination, blending thoughtful design with immersive artistic elements.

Rooted in subtlety and adaptability, Garnet’s interior draws inspiration from the Japanese philosophy of "kintsugi," which is the art of embracing imperfection. This concept is brought to life through gold foiling and gold leafing techniques, which designers hoped would celebrate the flaws as features rather than faults.

Developed in collaboration with art agency Rangari, Garnet offers more than just a dining experience. It presents a fully immersive space where art and design intersect. A variety of seating zones were created to suit different needs, from intimate nooks designed for quiet conversations to open, communal areas ideal for larger gatherings.

At the heart of the venue is a textured bar area, warmly lit to enhance its luxurious feel. As the day fades, the ambiance shifts with the help of classic crystal chandeliers, a reflective ceiling and mirrored walls, all of which contribute to the nightclub atmosphere.

The interiors are art-centric, with walls finished in soft-toned, textured cement and adorned with classic art frames that provide a visually compelling backdrop. Sustainability was also a key focus in the design: approximately 70% of the materials used reflect an eco-conscious approach. Reclaimed jute sacks were repurposed into textured wall coverings and discarded rock veneer was reused to clad surfaces throughout the space.
