James Beard Award-Winning, Hawaiian-fusion Chef Roy Yamaguchi has opened HUMBLE MARKET KITCHIN at the Marriott’s Wailea Beach Resort in Maui following a $100 million renovation and re-imagination.

The pioneer of the Hawaii Regional Cuisine movement returns to his roots with this venture, which is an ode to his grandfather who immigrated to Hawaii, and draws inspiration from various cuisines — Japanese, Filipino, Chinese and Hawaiian — to create his menu.

Perched on one of the highest points on the property, Wailea Beach Resort’s newest restaurant offers indoor/outdoor dining and panoramic ocean views. The organic, semi-minimalist design, inspired by the surrounding mountains and ocean, features vertical rectangle pillars around wall-to-wall windows to frame the photo-worthy view. Japanese-inspired blonde wood chairs with jade green cushions and white marble-topped tables finish the space.

HUMBLE MARKET KITCHIN is one of four new restaurants Yamaguchi opened this year.
